Eastec 2003 designed to help Northeast manufacturers adopt lean manufacturing
February 2003
Northeast manufacturers should get ready to learn more about lean manufacturing and how the principles of lean can affect purchase decisions on metalworking equipment, manufacturing processes and their general technical knowledge. These topics and more are being offered at the Society of Manufacturing Engineers' (SME) EASTEC 2003 Advanced Productivity Exposition (APEX) scheduled for May 20-22 at the Eastern States Exposition Grounds, West Springfield, Mass.
Attendees will also learning how to apply lean manufacturing principles to their operations through a brand-new Lean Manufacturing Pavilion and Conference that will take place alongside the EASTEC exposition.
Mitt Romney, Governor of Massachusetts has acknowledged SME's EASTEC exposition and proclaimed the week of May 18 through May 24, 2003 to be "New England Manufacturing Week."
More than 700 exhibiting companies will display and demonstrate 2,000 technologies, equipment products and services. EASTEC is the only place in the Northeast where buyers and sellers of machine tools and metalworking technologies can come together to discuss and learn about how to improve their manufacturing processes, equipment effectiveness, set-up cycle-time, production scheduling, and inventory management. No other show on the East Coast offers this broad range of machine tools and metalworking technology and on-site guidance.
"EASTEC is a great resource for lean ideas, high-speed solutions, and new business opportunities," said Gary Mikola, SME director of expositions. "If you are challenged with staying current with new technology, keeping your operation profitable and addressing downtime, we can help you."
Leading machine tool builders, regional distributors and accessories manufacturers will showcase their newest products including: machine tools and accessories; cutting tools and inserts; vertical and horizontal machining centers; grinding and deburring; drilling and tapping; EDM; lathes; CAD/CAM; assembly and automation equipment; machine controls; flexible manufacturing systems; waterjet cutting; finishing; laser systems and more.
EASTEC 2003 show hours: Tuesday, May 20, 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.; Wednesday, May 21, 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.; and Thursday, May 22, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (Hours are staggered by building and will vary slightly).
